The Garden of EDEN
Earth, 2890. The entire world has reached critical mass and life for its civilians has never been worse. The globes countries struggle to survive amidst all the pollution, the unemployment and the scarce availability of proper food. Without proper structure, proper services and enforced law of any kind, the UK’s 6 billion inhabitants live in a society of crime, poverty and short life expectancy where street gangs have more control and power than the government.
One day however, part of the country was offered a reprieve. It was announced that for years a secret project had been in progress in the North East of England known as EDEN; a safe, clean and secure environment that would house 100,000 people. Thousands of Doctors, engineers, architects and members of power had already been chosen and housed. The government was looking to fill the remaining 40,000 places with randomly selected members of the public and their families. A guaranteed job, clean and unpolluted oxygen and gardens with lush green grass seemed like only a fantasy to almost everyone. Jonathan Casey is one of the chosen.
The Garden of EDEN is a fictional novel following one man through the harsh realities of a possible future for Earth where, instead of futuristic logopolises and faster than light transportation we have a world suffocating with pollution, its natural resources dying and a way of life that echos those of the Dark Ages. We also get a glimpse into the possibilities of the technological age where computers are so much more powerful and so very much more dangerous.
This novel is currently being written by Sean O’Sullivan, with a current projected release in 2009. Please subscribe to see exerpts of the book as it develops.
